Building
The original 14th century church was completed rebuilt, apart from the Tudor Tower, to a design by
James Gibbs in the 18th century. This new building includes the famous 1730s screen of Robert
Bakewell. It became a cathedral in 1927, with an Eastern extension built in 1966.
