Choir
Founded in 1920 for consecration of the Lady Chapel and today consists of 12 Lay Clerks and 24 Choristers who are drawn from schools around Merseyside. In 2004, to mark the centenary of the Cathedral a girls' choir was recruited to complement the existing choir.
Organ
Main cathedral organ built by Henry Willis in 1926 it is the largest church organ in the United Kingdom and one of the largest in the world. There are two five manual consoles, one in a gallery under the North case and a mobile recital console. Rebuilds Harrison & Harrison 1977, David Wells 1989 & 1997.

Building
Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and built on St James' Mount, construction started in 1904, the Lady Chapel was consecrated in 1920 and the Sanctuary & Eastern transepts in 1924. It was finally completed in 1978. It is the largest cathedral in the United Kingdom and one of the largest in the world with the world's highest and heaviest peal of bells.
