Choir
The Cathedral Choir consists of 24 boy choristers, 24 girl choristers and 6 Lay Clerks who sing six services a week during term time. The boy and girl choristers (aged 7-13) are recruited from local schools and sing three services each during a normal week. Occasionally they sing together for special services and events.

Building
Only the Crypt of St Wilfrid's original 7th century church remains as a tiny chapel beneath the
present building. The exceptional Early English West Front of this 12th century building, with its
twin towers, dates from 1220. It became a Cathedral in 1836.
