Choir
The Chapel's mixed voices choir was formed in 1976. It consists of 28 singers who are Choral
Exhibitioners and volunteers from Selwyn and Newnham as well as 2 organ scholars. They sing many
services and concerts throughout the UK as well as tours abroad and recordings.
Organ
The Chapel has a magnificent new organ, 'Organes letourneau Ltee's Opus 95', completed in 2004. Its
specification includes 39 stops over three manuals and pedal and mechanical action whilst its fiery
reeds are particularly popular. It is much in demand as a recital and teaching instrument.

Building
The college takes its name from George Augustus Selwyn, Bishop of New Zealand and then Bishop of
Lichfield. The distinctive red-brick Victorian Old Court was designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield in
1880 and the college opened in 1882. Its fine gardens include many magnificent trees, the Victorian
Border, Virginia Creeper over the Old Court Buildings and a Lower Lawn much frequented by the
public at lunch times.
