Choir
The boys & mens choir sing the Sunday & Wednesday services and record, broadcast and tour
regularly. The girls choir, formed in 2001, sing the Thursday service. The boys are aged 7-14 and
the girls 10-18.
Organ
An 1804 John Avery organ was installed in the Abbey in 1856 being rebuilt on the medieval screen by Nicholsons. It was completely rebuilt in 1905 by Norman & Beard. The current 1974 organ is by Lawrence Phelps of Pennsylvania

Building
There has been a church on the Abbey site since AD 674 as a Bendictine Abbey, an Augustinian Priory
and then as the Parish Church of Hexham. The church was founded by St Wilfrid.
