Building
A church probably existed here from about 1222. Henry V111 built a new church in 1542 but the
present church was designed by James Gibbs and completed in 1726. Services resumed at St Martins in
September after complete redoration, reordered Sanctuary, new side windows, restored and renovated
pews and panelling. Throughout the 20th century, St Martins has looked beyond its own doors and
played an active role in wider social, humanitarian and international issues.
