Building
Few traces of the medieval building remain having suffered extensive damage in the Siege of Cork.
The fine entrance gates of the 18th century cathedral only remain. William Burges's building of
1862-1870 is of Cork limestone without and Bath stone and Cork marble within and Burges designed
the mosaics, furniture & metalwork, so achieving a unity of style throughout.
