Choir
The Palestrina Choir, a male choir, was founded as a Boy's Choir in the 1890s & established
through the financial generosity of Edward Martyn. Its many tours, recently to Poland & the
Czech Republic, as well as CD recordings have established its reputation as 'a church choir which
would be a model for the whole of Ireland'.

Building
St Mary's was built and dedicated in 1825, with its ancestry traced back to the Cistercian Abbey of
the 12th century. It is now the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin, ie the
'mother' church of the diocese.
