Choir
In 1586 a 'Sang Scuil' was founded with money from the Abbey to educate boys who would sing at Abbey services. That Song School became Paisley Grammar School which maintains a close association with the Abbey to this day. In the 19th Century Paisley Abbey was at the forefront of a move to reintroduce choral singing into the Chuirch of Scotland. The Boys' Choir was reformed at the beginning of the 20th century and a Girls' Choir formed in the 1990s. In 2000 the Boys' & Girls' Choirs were amalgamated for form The Choristers. There is a senior choir to which a number of choral scholarships are awarded on an annual basis.
